The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is a permanent resident program designed for international students or foreign workers who have studied and/or worked in Canada. The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is for those who are seeking to remain in Canada as permanent residents.

canadian experience class immigrationCan-Am Immigration has assisted hundreds of international students and foreign workers obtain permanent resident status through the Canadian Experience Class. Those who are temporary foreign workers or foreign students who are recent graduates from a Canadian college or university, often have the qualities to make a successful transition from temporary residence to permanent residence. Students and/or workers who wish to immigrate to Canada may apply for permanent residence through the Canadian Experience Class program.

Citizenship & Immigration Canada assesses applications for eligibility according to a set of criteria and a point system.

Your application is eligible for processing if;

  • you plan to live outside the province of Quebec, and be either, a temporary foreign worker with at least 2 years of full-time skilled work experience in Canada, OR a foreign graduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with at least 1 year of full-time paid work experience in Canada
  • you gained you r work experience in Canada with proper work/study authorization
  • you apply while working in Canad or within 1 year of leaving your job in Canada

Skilled Work Experience

Your work experience must be full-time paid and within 3 years (if worker), or 2 years (if student) of applying. Full-time work means 37.5 paid hours per week. Your work experience must be of Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B on the National Occupation Classification (NOC). Work experience gained during studies does not count toward meeting the requirements for work experience.

If you are a Foreign Worker, your application will be assessed based on 2 requirements:

  1. your work experience, and
  2. your proficiency in English and/or French

If you are a Foreign Student, in addition to the above 2 requirements your application will be assessed based on your education.

Education

Your Canadian education must be full-time at a post-secondary program of at least two (2) years or a one-year (1) Masters program and an additional year of education obtained in Canada before admission into the one-year program (total of 2 years). Full time studies must be considered “full-time” at your school.

Language

Applicants must take an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test to provide evidence of their proficiency in English, or a Test d’evaluation du Francais (TEF) to provide evidence of proficiency in French.
