Caring for People with High Medical Needs
On June 18, 2019, changes to the In-Home Caregiver program came into force. There are now 2 new streams, and caregivers must apply for permanent residence before being eligible to come to Canada to work as caregivers. Employers no longer require LMIAs to bring a caregiver to Canada. For More Information Click HERE.
To work in Canada as a Home Support Worker, you must:
- Secure a job offer from a Canadian employer,
- Submit an application for permanent residence and work permit. You may apply for your spouse and children if you would like them to accompany you to Canada,
- Prove that you can perform the duties of your proposed job in Canada
- Pass an English test with minimum language requirement scores by meeting Canadian Language Benchmark 5, and
- Have at least a 1-year post-secondary credential that is equivalent to a Canadian post-secondary education credential of at least one year, supported by an Educational Credential Assessment.
