Self-Employed Options
The self-employed immigration to Canada program is designed for individuals who have previous self-employment experience as farmers, athletes or art professionals. Citizenship and Immigration Canada seeks to attract those people who will make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada. If you are an athlete or an art professional, you must be recognized at an international level.
If you have previous experience in farm management and the intention and ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada you may qualify to apply for immigration to Canada through the self-employed category.
To apply you must:
- you must have at least two (2) years of relevant experience and show that you intend to become self-employed in Canada
- you must obtain a minimum of 35 points awarded based on a specific selection grid designed to determine whether you are able to become economically established in Canada.
