Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program
Each of Canada’s provinces has developed its own Provincial Nominee Program with various options for Canada immigration for individuals looking to immigrate and settle in a specific province in Canada. The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) could be the easiest and fastest immigration to Canada option for individuals who want to live and work in Newfoundland and Labrador. In partnership with the federal government of Canada, the province of Newfoundland has established its own set of criteria for those who are interested to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Program Options
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program offers various options for individuals who wish to speed up the process of immigration to Canada. You and your family may be eligible for permanent resident status if you meet the criteria of one of these categories. Click on one of the following categories to read more:
International Graduates Category
- have completed at least half of your studies in Canada and have graduated from an eligible publicly funded Canadian college or university;
- have completed a minimum of a two (2) year diploma or degree program, while studying on a full-time basis (one-year post-graduate degree programs and certificate programs which require a previous degree or diploma are also eligible);
- have a full-time job or job offer in your field of study, or related field of study, from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer;
- have legal status to work in Canada;
- have the qualifications, training, skills, and accreditation required for your intended occupation;
- be willing and able to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador;
- have sufficient financial resources to successfully establish yourself and any dependents in Canada;
- be proficient in English and/or French in order to perform your job duties and adapt efficiently to life in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Family Connections Category
You must meet all the basic requirements for the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program. In addition, your family member must meet the following conditions in order to sponsor you to Canada:
- Be a permanent resident of Canada for at least twelve (12) months, or be a Canadian Citizen.
- Be residing in Newfoundland and Labrador for at least twelve (12) consecutive months at the time of submitting the application.
- Must reside in the province on a full-time basis and have a commitment to continue to reside in the province on a full-time basis.
- Be financially independent.
- Be willing to sign a Declaration and Affidavit of Support which includes a commitment to a settlement plan for the Relative.
IMPORTANT!
This category of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program is discontinued as of May 1, 2012. Any applications received on or after this date will be returned. We will keep you updated on any changes in the PNP program as they become available. The Skilled Worker Category is currently being revised to include applicants who fit into the Family Connections category. You may contact us for further information and to find out whether you may still qualify for another category of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program or any other Canada immigration option.
Skilled Workers Category
- Have a full-time job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer, or a job or job offer that has compensation in the form of a salary and benefits package that meets provincial employment standards and prevailing wage rates;
- Have a Citizenship and Immigration Canada Work Permit or are entitled to apply for one;
- Have the qualifications, training, skills, and/or accreditation required for your intended occupation;
- Are willing and able to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador;
- Have sufficient funds and financial resources to successfully establish yourself and your family in Newfoundland and Labrador;
- Your employer (or future employer) must demonstrate a need for your skill set; and
- You must have sufficient English or French language capability to perform your job duties and adapt to life in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Newfoundland and Labrador PNP – Entrepreneurs Category
Applicants for the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program must show that they will be an asset to Canada and will actively and continuously aid in the growth of the economy and the creation of jobs for Canadians. Keep in mind that meeting the basic requirements for the program does not guarantee you approval into the program. Additionally, there are many factors which may disqualify you from the program. The application process for the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program is complex for each of the available categories and the help of a representative is highly recommended. As every situation is different, it is important to assess your individual needs and responsibilities on a case-by case-basis before deciding which immigration option is best for you and your family.
Alberta Provincial Nominee Program
- Alberta Skilled Worker Category
- Alberta Semi-Skilled Worker Category
- Alberta International Graduate Category
- Alberta Compulsory and Optional Trades Category
- Alberta Engineering Occupations Category
- Alberta Self-Employed Farmer Steam

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program
- Intend to settle in British Columbia
- Be able and willing to become economically established in British Columbia
- Have legal status in your country of residence, whether you are in Canada or outside of Canada
- Must not have an active refugee claim
In addition to these basic requirements, you must qualify under either the Strategic Occupations or Business Immigration category and satisfy all the requirements of the category under which you are applying.

Newfoundland Provincial Nominee Program
The province of Newfoundland has created three categories under which you may qualify for the Newfoundland Provincial Nominee Program. International students who have graduated from a recognized post-secondary educational institution in Canada may qualify under the category of International Graduates. The Family Connections category is for those who have family members in Canada that are either citizens or permanent residents living in Newfoundland and Labrador. For foreign workers with full-time job offers, the Skilled Worker category may be the way to go.
Each of these three categories has a different set of requirements which you must meet in order to be eligible to apply for the program.

Ontario Provincial Nominee Program
- Ontario PNP General Category – for foreign workers with a full-time job offer and at least 2 years of work experience.
- International Students – for students who have a job offer, a PhD, or a Master’s degree.
- Investors – for individuals or companies looking to make an investment in the province of Ontario

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program
- Skilled Workers Category – you must have a job offer in a skilled position along with education and training consistent with the position offered.
- Critical Workers Category – you must have a job offer in one of the province’s in-demand occupations (follow the link below to see a list of these occupations).
- International Graduates Category – you must have graduated from an full-time study at an accredited Canadian University or College within the past two years, have a minimum of six (6) months of work experience and a job offer in a skilled position.
- Family Connections Category – if you have family members residing in Prince Edward Island for more than two years as Canadian permanent residents or citizens with a regular source of income and an unblemished personal history, your family may nominate you for this category as long as you are willing and able to work.
- 100% Business Ownership Category – you must meet all the requirements to establish and operate a business in Prince Edward Island (see link below for full list of requirements)
- Partial Business Ownership Category – if you control more than 1/3 of the equity in the business and meet the other requirements to establish and operate a business, you may qualify for the program under this category.
- Work Permits Category – you must be eligible and willing to apply for approval of a work permit for the Prince Edward Island business where you intend to work and invest and meet all the requirements to establish and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.
